Linus is seeking a multi-talented Assistant Editor/Associate Producer (AE/AP) to join our in-house Creative Team. At Linus, we use video storytelling to shift understanding in science and healthcare. Our video practice is rooted in documentary filmmaking with a great of expertise in the craft. The ideal AE/AP candidate is a team player who will work directly with the Creative Director, Senior Video Producer, and Motion Designer. S/he will enjoy all aspects of video production, posses a knack for creativity, an eagerness to learn, and a willingness to contribute efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

Pre-Production Work
— The AE/AP will assist the Senior Producer in organizing logistics for upcoming shoots, such as booking travel, securing locations, communicating with crew, renting gear, creating call sheets, etc.

Production Work
— If local shoots are scheduled to coincide with the internship, the AE/AP will have to opportunity to attend, work on set, and contribute toward a successful shoot.

Post-Production Work
— The AE/AP will assist the Motion Designer in prepping projects in Premiere Pro. Tasks could include logging footage, creating proxies for transcription, light editing work, or organizing drives for editors.

Creative Team Contributions
— The AE/AP will attend the Creative Team’s weekly meetings and will have the opportunity to learn about Linus’ current and upcoming projects.

Qualifications

— Experience working in Adobe Premiere Pro editing platform
— Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (e.g., After Effects, Photoshop)
— Knowledge of post-production workflow, video formats, and compression rates
— Familiarity with various online video hosting platforms & functionalities (Vimeo, YouTube, Wistia, etc.)
— Bachelor’s degree in film/video production or journalism; currently enrolled in program; or equivalent experience
— Must possess a positive and professional attitude (and great sense of humor)
— Strong time management, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills; and the ability to multi-task

POSITION TYPE

This is a part-time, short-term position. This person will report to Linus’ office in Emeryville 2-3 days a week during our core business hours of 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Mon – Fri.

Duration

Dates are flexible but targeted: Beginning of July to end of September 2017 (approx. 3 months) with the possibility to extend.
